Tourist Guide (Panipat, Haryana)

By admin / February 16, 2026

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Tourist Guide to join our hospitality team in Panipat, the historic “City of Weavers.” As the primary storyteller for visitors to this strategic gateway of Indian history, you will be responsible for bringing to life the epic sagas of the Three Battles of Panipat, the intricate artistry of the local Handloom Industry, and the spiritual serenity of ancient Sufi shrines through captivating narratives and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guided Tours: Lead individuals and groups through iconic historical sites such as the Kala Amb Park (the site of the Third Battle), the Hemu’s Samadhi Sthal, and the towering Kabuli Bagh Mosque built by Babur.
  • Storytelling: Provide deep insights into the tactical brilliance of the Marathas, Mughals, and Afghans, and the legendary bravery of Hemu Vikramaditya.
  • Industrial Heritage: Lead “Textile Trails” through Asia’s largest recycling hub and handloom clusters, explaining the evolution of Panipat from a battlefield to a global center for durries, blankets, and carpets.
  • Excursion Management: Coordinate and lead trips to nearby landmarks like the Tomb of Bu Ali Shah Qalandar, the Panipat Museum, and the ancient Lodhi Garden.
  • Safety & Logistics: Ensure the safety of all tourists, manage transportation between the busy markets and heritage parks, and handle permissions for visits to export-oriented textile units.
  • Cultural Ambassadorship: Educate guests on the Haryanvi way of life, from the local cuisine (like Kachri ki Sabzi) to the significance of the city’s location on the historic Grand Trunk Road.

Qualifications

  • License: Possession of a valid Tourist Guide License (accredited by Haryana Tourism) is highly preferred.
  • Language: Fluency in Hindi and English is essential; knowledge of Punjabi or Haryanvi is a major plus to connect with local artisans and historians.
  • Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of the Mughal Empire, the Maratha Confederacy, and the socio-economic impact of the textile industry in North India.
  • Communication: Exceptional public speaking skills with the ability to turn dry military history into gripping human dramas.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to navigate large outdoor memorial parks and the bustling, narrow lanes of the old city markets in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Skills

  • Technical Familiarity: A basic understanding of weaving techniques (handloom vs. power loom) to answer specialized queries from textile students and designers.
  • Photography: Ability to assist guests in capturing the architectural geometry of the Ibrahim Lodhi Tomb or the vibrant colors of the local textile markets.
  • Local Networking: Strong connections with local weavers, handicraft exporters, and authentic eateries serving traditional Haryanvi Thalis.

Benefits

  • Unique Environment: Work at the crossroads of ancient history and modern industrial power.
  • Growth Opportunities: Engage with history buffs, military researchers, and international textile buyers.
  • Impact: Be the face of the city that has shaped the destiny of India three times over.
